I had just a regular tower drive, then switched to Apple Mac. So my son transferred files over from my other drive to the Mac. Now I want to add pictures probably from my camera. Will work on figuring that out! Wish me luck!

I’ve had a busy 2018. Wish I could have posted pictures! I think I might have a way to post pictures, just have to play with it on my computer. Probably won’t be able to do it from my tablet but that’s okay.

I made a quilt that once I washed it I found four places where it had shred at the seams. Started a quilt but didn’t really like the colors so I put all those blocks aside but ended up making a nine patch and giving it to a friend for Christmas. She loved it. My granddaughter had her dad ask me if I’d make her another quilt... something ethereal (uh what?) so I picked a carpenter star design with my idea of ethereal fabric in batiks. Currently hand quilting a quilt as a gift for someone...hopefully will post pictures of that.

Started re organizing my craft room in the fall and found three quilts -small and table runners sandwiched, basted and ready to hand quilt. Found fabric I forgot I had bought etc. But then the holidays were fast approaching so the room got put on a back burner and became the place where everything under the sun went. Today I spent four hours cleaning, putting things away, etc. Ended up with three bags of trash!! Still have loads of stuff to purge or take to the goodwill. Need to organize my cross stitch and needle punch stuff better....I’m sure you know the routine! Wish me luck and success!

Thanks for stopping by!
Last year we worked on our bathroom and one of the casualties of that was that we let our gardens go. So this year we are having to,weed big time and it feels like we’re getting no where fast!

My friend and I want to go to the Apple store to learn how to use our iPads better...you know, post pictures, etc. But between her schedule and mine we just haven’t been able to fit it in....

I finally finished my Jane Harris sampler after about five years. I’ve always done my own framing but this was too big for me to attempt. Well imagine my shock over the cost to frame it!😳. Whew! I had sticker shock big time! It’s still at the framer....has been for three weeks. Should be ready in a day or so. Meanwhile I’ve been working on The Little House needlework Farmhouse series to put on my Christmas tree this year. I also have two quilts sandwiched and ready to hand quilt. Started quilting one of them today.

I’m hoping to be able to post pictures soon.

Thanks for stopping by!
I may have to schedule a class at the nearest Apple store to learn how to do that and how to delete and add songs to my iPod. But that will have to wait until probably March because February is supposed to be a “colder than normal and snow above normal” for February here in Ohio.

Meanwhile I’m wetting lots of hand quilting done. Almost finished with one quilt. Then just have to make the lost block and sew all,the blocks together for another quilt top, sandwich, and quilt. I still have two more quilt tops to mark and sandwich as well as a table runner. And one more quilt top to sew together and quilt. Hoping to get these all completed this year. Hoping to get at least two more quilted before the weather gets too warm. Big plans....LOL!

I had taken up rug hooking several years ago. I have one finished and I think, 3 or 4 to finish. All small rugs. Then I just kind of lost interest for a couple of years...life got in the way. Lately I’ve been yearning to put them on my frame and finish them. I see so many pretty rugs and mats on Facebook...Out of Hand Rug Hookers group. So maybe this will be the year for rughooking for me.

Take care, stay warm and thanks for stopping by!
This year went by so fast! Too fast! I didn’t get to enjoy summer because we started remodeling our bathroom late June and it was the middle of August before we finished. Then in September we had Bathfitters come and do a tub cover and tub surround. Late August my grandson, Ryan, starts the junior high football season so we attended most of his games, many of them in the cold or rain. We also attended our grandson, Andrew’s, soccer game....yep we only got to attend one.

Earlier this year I signed up for a block of the month quilt class as well as joining in on Kathy Tracy’s small quilt group mystery quilt.....uh...what the heck was I thinking?!?! Meanwhile I attended some “classes” held by members of our quilt guild. In July my friend, Sharon, hosted a Christmas themed sew in. We had our choice of making a table runner, table topper, or two placemats. We could cut our fabric but not start sewing until the sewin day started at 10:00 a.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m. Guess who didn’t finish....yep me! The next class was to make an iron caddy....again, guess who didn’t finish...again, Me! The next class was a carpenter star quilt which I really enjoyed, but again, didn’t finish the top by the end of the day. Sigh....do,you see a pattern here? I did get the top finished at home and cut the backing and batting, but need to mark, the top to hand quilt. The table runner I managed to finish the top, cut the batting and the backing, need to mark and sandwich for, hand quilting. Oh and I completely forgot the mystery quilt class done at the quilt guild meeting place. Have batting and backing cut but also need to mark it to quilt. Like I said....what was I,thinking?!?! I still haven’t done all the blocks for Kathy Tracy’s mystery quilt.

Now I’m working on Christmas gifts. Gulp! Got a very late start.... usually I’m almost finished and just have to add details... Sigh...

Meanwhile, it seems everyone wants a piece of me and I have many commitments and appointments to deal with.

Then again the “what was I thinking” card popped up and I got the brilliant idea of getting my two great granddaughters Mariah who is two and Juleigha who is six over to make some things this past Saturday. We had funny and it was funny. This coming Saturday I’m having my two grandsons, Liam who will be 9 (I think) and Dominic who is seven come over to make some things.

On top of all of the above my husband, John, has mild dementia that seems like it’s getting worse. Tomorrow I’m meeting with someone at the Alzheimer’s Association to talk about what to expect, how to tell when it’s getting worse, etc. he is only 68 years old...😔

So....what have y’all been up to?

When I can figure out how to,post pictures on my blog through my iPad or Apple computer I will post pictures.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Yeah I know I'm about 20 days late! But I have a good excuse....sort of.... my hubby has been sick again, multiple trips back and forth to drs offices, labs, X-rays, echocardiograms, etc. He has heart failure so they've been monitoring him closely. He seemed like he was getting better then last Thursday night he went to get ready for bed and was bleeding from his rectum. So off to ER we go. They admit him, do a bunch of tests, start him on IV iron because his blood was was so low. Called in a blood/hematology specialist who ordered a bunch more blood work. He had a colonoscopy and found that he had a large hemorrhoid that needed to be removed. Meanwhile hematologist decided to do a bone marrow aspiration because every lab work was coming back fine. The colonoscopy was done Saturday. The bone marrow aspiration was done Sunday and we got to go home. Monday he had to go back for more IV iron. Wednesday he had to go for a liver spleen scan. Then f/u from hospital to family dr. Meanwhile he woke up in horrific pain at his big toe....turns out he has gout. Today to the surgeon to schedule the procedure to remove the hemorrhoid which will be done Monday. He also has been diagnosed with mild dementia and when he's in the hospital or an unfamiliar environment he gets even more confused so I end up staying at the hospital with him the whole time because he's less agitated that way. He is only 67.... :( Tuesday is a follow up at the cardiologist office.

I completed a quilt for my granddaughter Skylar and gave it to her for Christmas and I have some pictures of things I made that I took with my iPad but I don't know how to download the pictures from my iPad to my blog yet! LOL! So those will come.

I'm so tired and every day is going from one place to another. My house is a mess, unorganized. My craft room looks like a hurricane and tornado hit. So my crafting mojo is kind of in the tank right now. I'm hoping next week will be better. I really need to get things straightened up so my creative juices can flow freely! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by! Sorry there were no pictures!
Time flies when you're having fun....or not!I have been busy. Between multiple trips to the Cleveland Clinic main campus in Cleveland for hubby's heart issues to busily doing punch needle, cross stitch, and getting some quilts ready time has just become a big blur!

First - hubby: He has Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and needs to have surgery to thin out the thickening of his heart which is blocking his aorta. He also has a leaky valve that needs repaired or replaced. Initially he was supposed to have surgery on July 19 but prior to that he ended up in the hospital due to his hemoglobin being only 7. So two blood transfusions, 4 IV iron infused, and a week in the hospital he came home. But not before he had a colonoscopy and EGD which were completely normal. So next he had to have an encapsulated endoscopy where he swallows a teeny tiny camera which looks like a capsule type pill. Again, everything completely normal - no bleeding, no redness, nothing. Decision: he doesn't absorb iron. So our GI dr has him going monthly to have his hemoglobin checked and if it starts to drop (it's back up to 12.5) then he'll get more iron transfused. So yay, green light for heart surgery. Well, not so fast. We went back to Cleveland Clinic August 1 for a do over of all his tests for pre-surgery since 90 days had passed since he had them. This time blood work comes back that his blood takes too long to clot. So this Thursday August 18 he has to go back to Cleveland Clinic (did I mention it's main campus downtown Cleveland?) to meet with a hematologist and will hopefully get cleared for surgery which is currently scheduled for August 24. So if he is cleared for surgery, then we have to go back downtown on the 22 for a heart cath, back on the 23rd for his preop work up, meet with the anesthesiologist, and the surgeon, then back on the 24th for surgery. Gulp!

Now on to fun things. Like I said, I have been quilting and doing some punch needle, and some cross stitch. Our quilt guild, Lorain County Piecemakers is having a quilt show on Oct 8, 9, and 10. They had sent an email out to members of the guild about wouldn't it be nice to have a section of red and white quilts. So, I had a pattern from BirdBrain Designs titled "Snow Much Fun" that I had planned to do in blue and white. Well, I decided to do it in red and white.

I will work on hand quilting while hubby is in the hospital.

Then on August 2 we had our 45th class reunion and I had volunteered to make a door prize. I started out thinking I would make the "Welcome Pineapple" by Tara Guernsey, but after I finished and mounted it I was worried that it didn't look right so I had a block left over from the red and white quilt that I turned into a mini quilt.

This is the Welcome Pineapple. I need to hone my punch needle skills....

This is the mini quilt that I made for the class reunion.

I have also been working on my Jane Harris Sampler that I started, what, something like 3 years ago. It was much bigger than I thought it was when I ordered it so it's one of those work on for a couple of weeks, then put it away to work on something else. I feel like I will never get it finished! It seems like there should be more completed on this than what is!!!

So this week I have been working on this sampler. I've also been getting two smalls to work on at the hospital the day of the surgery and for ever how long hubby will be in ICU.

This Saturday, my friends Stacy and Sharon and I are doing a road trip to Sauder Village for rug hooking week even though Saturday is the last day. Yes, I am a rug hooker too, although I haven't done much hooking lately, ok, not lately like in the past two years! LOL! Any hoo, I will be on the look out for a new punch needle as mine broke. My friend Stacy does a lot of rug hooking and will be looking for wool. My friend Sharon doesn't rug hook but she is a quilter. Sauder Village has a nice quilt shop that in the past has had some nice civil war type fabric. After we do the rug hooking and the quilt shop we will eat lunch there at Sauder Village. From there we will head to Findlay, Ohio to a cross stitch shop. I have started doing the "word play" by Brenda Gervais that is a cross stitch for each month. I need four more and I will have all the months, so hoping this shop still has them so I don't have to order online and pay shipping and handling. From there we're going to a bulk food store in Shiloh, Ohio. Then we'll go to a quilt shop right around the corner from there. Then as we head home we always have to stop somewhere for ice cream and we will do the same thing this time! :)

So...i think that's it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

Happy crafting!
I am working on some redwork for our guild's quilt show in October. We want to have a section devoted to red and white quilts so I decided to do some redwork. I've also quilted a small wall hanging from a panel of fabric I bought at the Quilt and Sewing Expo last year. And, I've even made some maple leaf blocks for a quilt that a group of people are making to be raffled....

Lately I've been trying to work on cleaning/organizing my craft room. I'm not getting very far though so I've been avoiding my craft room! I did work in it for about 3 hours yesterday. I managed to clean out a drawer - I swear it was a bottomless drawer because I kept pulling stuff out and pulling stuff out but finally I got it emptied, went thru stuff that was in there from 2000!!!!!! Now it holds my journal which I don't write in very often (probably because I couldn't find it), my coloring book and coloring pencils and pencil sharpener. Wonder how long it will stay that way! Ha!

This is the quilt I quilted from a panel I bought at the Sewing and Quilt expo last year. I was playing around with different thimbles so I'm not really happy about the hand quilting I did. This is hanging in my kitchen.

This is one of the redworks I have finished stitching. I am planning on adding small beads for the buttons and some of the snowflake ends. Three down, six more to go before I can create a quilt top.

This is what is in my hoop right now. Little House Needleworks - Small Sheep Virtue - Friendship. It went fast and I was in the mood to do something that I could finish in a couple of days. I need to finish the stitching then decide if I want to frame it, make it into a pillow or what.

My two maple leaves.

I hope you all are doing well.

Happy Easter!
Our weather here in Ohio has been pretty darn nice considering that it's February and we don't have snow on the ground! :) And we had a 64 degree day yesterday. We're supposed to get some nasty weather this week coming up but it's gone almost as soon as it comes and I can live with that!

I've had a very busy (and not in a good way) couple of weeks. My hubby ended up in the hospital with severe atrial fib. They took him off his old medication which meant he had to be monitored in the hospital and then they started him on a new medication and again he had to be monitored. But the new medication wasn't doing the trick either so they had to cardiovert him back into normal rhythm. He was in the hospital for a very looooong week! Then once he got home he had to go for an EKG on Tuesday, on Friday and then again today. Thursday he has to go see the nurse practitioner at the cardiologist's office. The doctor has been happy with his EKG's and his blood pressure so that's a very good thing. We both were exhausted all last week so not a whole lot got done around my house except a lot of napping.

I did, however, finish my daughter's quilt. It was from McCall's quilting magazine 2015 and was a series. The magazine quilt finished pattern would have measured 95 1/2 x 95 1/2. I did not want to hand quilt one that big so I made hers to measure approximately 49 x 49. She loves it. It's the perfect size for her to bundle up with on the couch. I'm happy it's done. So life is swell!

Purple is her favorite color. I picked this fabric up many years ago with her mind but had no idea what I was going to make. So happy to see the McCall's series!

Here is a picture of it with me holding it up.....

So now I have a wall hanging of birds and bird houses on my hoop. I'm just about finished hand quilting and hopefully will sew the binding on tomorrow and the sleeve to hang it by. Then it will hang in my kitchen.

I've also been working on a red work quilt. The pattern is from Bird Brain Designs and is of snowmen. But that's not a rush...well, not a huge rush. I hope to have it finished in time for our quilt guild quilt show in October to be displayed with the red and white quilts. We'll see....

I also have several cross stitch projects in the works as well as needle punch. I really, really want to get my Jane Harris sampler finished so that may be the priority. Once I get it finished the other cross stitch projects will go quickly as they're not as big as the Jane Harris sampler.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you've enjoyed your visit and will come back again!

I'm quilting in the ditch around each star, log cabin strip, pinwheel, etc. So it's taking me longer than I had anticipated. But she will love it when she finally gets it! She has seen it in person and liked it.

I read on The Old Tattered Flag blog about resolutions....I have a better name for it....my bucket list for 2016! LOL! She mentioned diets, exercise, that sort of thing. Well, each year I make a list of projects I want to complete, that I want to start, and then some. I write it down. This past year it actually helped me stay on track and I did manage to get quite a few things completed on my list. But quilting, cross stitching, punch needle, rug hooking are like shiny objects to me. I swear I'm not going to start another project until the current one is finished. Then I see people's posts on facebook of their quilts or rugs or cross stitch or cute little bunny punch needle and adorable little punch needle hearts and I want to stop what I'm doing and make those. I've been strong so far and haven't given in to the urge to do something other than the quilt I'm working on. But it's hard! Plus I see those things and think, "oh, I could do those up quickly" forgetting that I'm not as fast at cross stitch or punch needle as I'd like to think I am! And then there's rug hooking....I haven't picked up my hook since last April when I attended a rug hook in. What the heck!?!? Then I see my friend's blog Rugs and Pugs and see all that she has hooked and think, I should set my frame up in my craft room and even if I can only hook here and there a little bit each day or every other day I just might get a rug hooked!

I've also been babysitting my grandson and two great granddaughters so my daughter can go to her son's wrestling tournaments. They are ages 5, 4, and 1year. I didn't think I'd be so tired after they left. I've only watched them once so far but will be watching them next weekend.

Sorry there aren't more pictures. I will post pictures of the completed quilt when it's finished. And I just might post my "bucket list for 2016"...oh wait! Part of my bucket list is to actually make the bucket list for this year! So maybe now I have the incentive to at least make the list! LOL!

Take care - have a great weekend.

Thanks for popping in to see what I've been up to!

Between the two of them they have 8 children (my daughter has six of the eight). My son's daughter, Brooke, lives in Tampa, Florida and was not able to make it. My stepdaughter who lives close by was not able to make due to daughter being with her dad Christmas Eve so the two of them came over this past Sunday.

The grandkids were on good behavior Christmas Eve with the threat of Santa not coming looming all around them if they dared to act out! LOL! Oh, heck, who am I kidding - they were wound up to beat the band. The 5 year old (Dominic) and his cousin (Liam) who just turned 7 had a blast seeing who could talk (yell) the loudest! Then Dominic's niece (Juleigha) who is 4 just sat very daintily observing it all until after presents were opened and then she gave them a run for their money. The baby (also Dominic's niece) who just turned a year old December 6 (Mariah) was the life of the party! Everyone enjoyed the food. My daughter-in-law, Michelle, and my daughter, Ginger, cleaned up the kitchen and washed and dried dishes. Yay me! They all left around 7:30 which was somewhat of a relief to hubby and I as we had been battling colds all week.

Then on Saturday, December 26 we celebrated Mariah's birthday. Which was hilarious! So I'm posting some pictures below of Christmas and the birthday girl!

These are the Christmas gifts I made for family and friends this year. They weren't very hard to make - just time consuming but it gave me something mindless to do while watching tv.

This is a gift I stitched for my nephew who lives in Tennessee.

This is a gift I stitched for my niece who lives in Mississippi.

This is a quilt I made from my grandson, Liam. I had made his dad a quilt a few years back using the guitar fabric and musical notes that I binded Liam's with and Liam tried to take ownership of it. Now he has his own - not exactly like dad's but using some of the same fabric. He was a happy camper.

The quilt I made for Dominic. He said it was so soft. :)

Miss Juleigha Renee. She is our 4 year old great granddaughter. Her hair was longer at one time but one afternoon she decided she wanted it short, went into her Grammy's bedroom, found the scissors and cut all her hair this short. Lucky for her, Aunt TM (Toni Marie) is a hair stylist and cleaned it up for her. She's such a little cutie pie!

Uncle Dominic and Juleigha. He's a wild thing and if I try to give him "the look" the little stinker just gives it right back to me. It's so hard to not laugh when I'm trying to get him to stop doing something and he gives the look right back.

This Uncle Dominic, Juleigha, and Uncle Ryan (Ry Ry aka stunt double). To get somewhat of a smile from Ryan is a major accomplishment!
My granddaughter, Karley, with her precious baby, Mariah. Those tights Mariah has on made it look like she had black shoes on. So cute.
Little Miss Mariah was infatuated by her cousin Liam and just followed him around and would stand and stare at him. Then she started hitting him, cocking her head to the side and smiling at him. She's already a big flirt!
Picture of Mariah in her birthday dress. She looked like a real life baby doll. But she was not too happy being all fru fru'd up! She was much happier once her momma took her out of her dress. Ordinarily she's all smiles. She's a happy little baby but has no fear. Her daddy got her an age appropriate riding toy and the little stinker stands on it!
So now it's time to clean up my craft room so I can get started on a quilt for our guild quilt show in October. Time to make a list of projects (quilts, stitching, punch needles, rugs, Christmas gifts I want to make or finish in 2016) so I can stay on track. I did that in 2015 and did a pretty good job of getting things done!

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you leave a comment or two.
Happy New Year!
If you have to travel or have family that travel I hope they have a safe trip. To those of you who don't celebrate Thanksgiving - I still wish you a wonderful day!

Here in Ohio it's 60 degrees and just beautiful out. We will not celebrate our Thanksgiving with my family until Saturday. However, we are going to my daughter's house tomorrow for dinner. My cousin, her children and her brother (also my cousin) will be here tomorrow evening to visit their big family in Vermilion. Then they'll come here and spend time with my family before they have to head back home to Tennessee.

I have finished quilting one of the quilts I'm giving as a gift this Christmas. Just have to finish the other one. I still have two more to do but they'll probably be given after Christmas....there are only so many hours in a day ya know! :) I have also finished the Christmas gifts that I make. Yay me!

So hubby and I have cleaned downstairs, put the tables and chairs up. Now we're going to eat some lunch, then I'll do my baking for Saturday.

Today I am grateful for the many friends I have "met" on facebook and on blogs. You are what keeps me motivated to make my quilts, hook my rugs, punch needle and cross stitch. You all give such good tips and good advice. You're all just awesome!

Thanks for stopping by!

I've been busy making Christmas gifts (sorry no pictures until after Christmas on those), busy hand quilting some smaller quilts, and playing with my new Ipad. I have no idea what all it does but I've been playing around with it trying to learn all the quirks and features.

And as if that wasn't enough I decided to purchase Apple TV which is a streaming device to be able to watch Netflix and Hulu - those types of things. I bought it for two reasons 1) everyone said super easy to install...NOT and 2) I'm sick and tired of paying a huge bill every month for cable or satellite and still watching reruns of reruns. My goal is to eventually stop the cable or satellite, get antennae tv to watch local channels and Netflix and Hulu for every thing else. We'll see how that goes.

So the saga of the installation.... I came home, read the instruction book page by page, got my Ipad and looked up how to install Apple TV, watched the video on You Tube and thought I was ready to install. I plug it in, then had to figure out how to get to the HDMI port once I turned my tv on. Got that figured out. So I used my little apple tv remote to install.... everything came up French!!!! I don't speak or read French. So my friend called and walked me thru where to find language and I found English. Cool! Next I ended my Wi-fi password....not able to find Wi Fi.... So after 3 hours I quit for the day. Next day I tried again - still unable to read my wi-fi. So I called Apple Tech support - very friendly, very helpful but couldn't help because it was my wi fi speed - to slow. So I called the phone company explained my problem and they did a few things and then said, "so sorry but you're going to have call our loyalty department and have them upgrade your wi fi speed - if we do it, it will mess up your phone and they're not in on Sundays." So finally Tuesday afternoon I was home long enough to have them upgrade the wi fi speed and make a few other changes. Then Wednesday I was brave enough to attempt installing Apple TV again and VOILA! (oh maybe I do know some French...or is that Spanish...whatever...LOL!) it worked! Yay!

So, no pictures to post this time but just thought I'd pop in and say "Hey!". I've been stalking your blogs and you all have such lovely fall displays! Once of these day's I'll get there too!

Meanwhile, thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great week!
I took my hubby there around 8:00 p.m. with atrial fib. They were able to get him in normal rhythm fairly quickly but as with all heart issues, they decided to admit him. Hopefully he'll get discharged some time tomorrow. He has had this problem off and on for 15 years and has had two ablations. It might be time for a medication change.

Meanwhile.... in my August 12, 2015 post I posted a picture of pieces of fabric. Well.... here is that it turned out to be!

It has lots of pockets and zippers inside and out!

This is the pattern.

And last but not least is a picture of my great-granddaughter, Mariah. She is 8 months old - well, soon to be 9 months old.

Hmmm....pieces of this and pieces of that....oh what will it be? Stay tuned for the series final... :)

This is a quilt top that I've made for my daughter. She loves purple and many, many years ago - like 10 or more - I bought this fabric with her in mind and began searching for a pattern that would look good with the variety of greens and purples and had no luck. Then last December or January I got one of my McCall's magazines and it had a six part series of a quilt called Cottage Romance. It used lots of floral fabrics but in reds and pinks. Then I had an "Aha!" moment and realized I could make it using the above fabric. But I knew I didn't want to make the whole quilt - I just wanted to make a lap size so I did the first three parts of the pattern and added a border. The size is about 55 x 55. Now I just need to hand quilt it, bind it, wash it and give it to my daughter. I really struggled with those pinwheel blocks but after much ripping and cutting new fabric and re sewing and ripping and cutting new fabric I finally am satisfied with them. The sad news...I still have a ton of the purple floral fabric and some of the greens left so I'm going to make a rag wreath for their bedroom wall.

Couldn't remember if I'd posted a picture of my spring rag wreath. I have butterflies to glue on the lighter part. But meanwhile I have a patriotic rag wreath hanging where this one was. But just realized I don't have a picture of it so I'll need to take one and post the picture of that. I plan to make one for the fall and then a Christmasy one.

I've also finished a Lorain Lighthouse just need to frame it and am working on another small cross stitch that I've almost finished. I can't show pics of that because it's a gift. And I'm working on a punchneedle project and of course, can't forget my slow, painful progress on the Jane Harris sampler.

And last but not least.... I bought a new car today. I've been researching and pricing and checking Kelley Blue Book for the value of my old car (2008 Mercury Sable with 114,000 miles on it). Then decided how much I could afford for a monthly payment and then went to the dealership. I hate buying cars and always get so tense. Well, this was effortless and I ended up paying $8.00 more per month than I had originally planned but I can live with that. I bought a 2016 Ford Fusion in Ruby Red. Here it is....

This is going to be Dominic's quilt. I had already cut the homespun and the border into 6 inch squares to make a rag quilt. However, when I did the older boys quilts (rag quilts) they turned out horrible so I opted to sew the 6 inch squares together and was going to add a border. Then realized that I could just sew the green six inch squares to the sides, top, and bottoms of the rows and come up with this border.

This is the Lizzie Kate cross stitch that I finished. I had posted this on facebook and one of the group suggested turning it into a bell pull and I think I just might do that! Whichever way I decide to finish - I'll post the finished product!

This is a free punch needle pattern I got off the Good Housekeeping website. I had to redo the face a couple of times because I just didn't like the look. I am satisfied with this. Back in the fall I was at Pat Catan's (one of our local craft stores) and saw a cute little metal sled. At the time I had just started this and thought to myself that it would be a good way to mount this punch needle. For some reason I put it back down and did not buy it. I'm regretting it now! I'm hoping that when or IF our weather ever breaks and we can take a ride to Amish county I can go to the Christmas store (it's open year round) to see if I can find something there - like maybe another sled to mount this on. If not, I'll wait until this fall when all the Christmas decorations come out to see if I can find something then.

This is Liam's quilt top which I did the same way as Dominic's above. Both of these have been put away until I finish the two older boy's (Andrew's and Ryan's) quilts. Andrew's top is almost done - will probably get that done today. Then I'll start on Ryan's. I'm not using homespun just using fabric that I had in my stash in colors that they like.

I've tried clicking on open, I've tried clicking on save and still nothing so....until I can figure out the problem or if I even can I'll just have to tell you what I've been doing! :)

After the debacle of Christmas crafts gone bad I re-did two of the boys quilts. I used the same blocks I had already cut from homespun and sewed them into blocks like a regular quilt. I will sandwich them with batting and backing and hand quilt them. Since they go to the two youngest grandchildren, they have been put away so I can make and finish the older boys quilts. For theirs I managed to get their embroidered names out of the "rag" quilt and then decided I was done with that homespun. So I looked through my stash and found just about enough fat quarters to do a scrappy quilt for both of them in their favorite colors. I cut the squares in 5 1/2 blocks and sewed 11 blocks across and 12 blocks down. I will add a 1 inch inner border and then about a 3 inch outer border to complete the quilt top. Then I will get some flannel for the back. I just plan to hand quilt circles or arches so those will need to be traced on the top. Then I'll sandwich them and work on them in the evening while watching tv.

I also finished a small Lizzie Kate cross stitch. I also got a free punch needle project from Good Housekeeping - a Santa and finished that. I just need to figure out how to display both of them. The cross stitch I had originally thought of mounting on a flat pail/wall hanging but someone suggested that I make a small bell pull out of it which I think I'm leaning more towards that. The Santa will probably have to wait until I can either get down to Amish country to the Christmas store and see if there is something there that I can mount it on - like a small sleigh or hope that Pat Catan's has small sleighs in October/November when they put their Christmas stuff out. I saw one this past Christmas that would have been perfect for it but did not buy it. Why? I don't know but I'm kicking myself now! LOL!

We have gotten tons of snow. I think I'm not alone in feeling like this winter is never going to end! My husband keeps saying we're probably going to have a really hot summer. I have my doubts. I don't think they snow will melt until July! LOL!

Well, I'll keep trying to figure out what's up with my blog or why I can't post pictures. If any of you out there have any ideas I'm open for suggestions. A friend suggested I unplug the modem and then replug it back in - I did that and still can't post pictures. Urgh!

Take care! Stay warm if you're somewhere that's getting all this cold. If you in a warm/nice climate - I'm jealous! but enjoy yourself!

Thanks for stopping by!
Happy New Year!Christmas has come and gone, the decorations are down, my house is in some semblance of normalcy... Craft room needs to be straightened back up or at least finished so I can start on projects.

My Christmas crafting turned into major disasters! Gulp! I had sewn homespun to make rag quilts for my grandsons...I washed and washed and washed and washed and dried and dried and dried and dried.... It was a twisted ugly mess with strings all over the place little rats nests here and there - a total disaster. A friend suggested I do fray check so two small bottles later - still the same thing. Then when I said I was going to salvage the embroidered names and then just throw the rest of it away she suggested that I try cutting it apart with my pinking rotary cutter. So I tried that with just two pieces, washed and dried - still the same affect... :( So I decided ENOUGH! I've put way too many hours into this to have them look so bad it and it was ruining my creative mind (hahahaha!) So I salvaged the embroidred names, found fat quarters but needed to buy just about 3 more of each color and some border fabric to make two Crazy Eight quilts. That's my plan and I'm stickin' to it!

My next craft disaster was these darling punch needle snowman faces ornaments. I punched and punched (I made 15 all together), I added beeds for eyes and mouth.... Then I don't know why, I gues I had a major brain freeze, but I cut them all out really close to the edge of the punch needle without ever using glue or fray check or any thing. I decided to make little pillows, cut some nice flannel to make little pillows that I was going to fill with my pine needle stuffing... I sewed them onto the flannel - too cute. Then I sewed the back flannel to the front. When I was turning them inside out....they unraveled!!!! So, okay deep breaths... I threw them away as well. Then I decided to try to make these little snowmen ornaments out of felt. Cute but not what I wanted to make. Those only went to a few people. So this was the Christmas that my crafts went out the door - literally!

Next - my fudge. My dad loves my peanut butter fudge and my chocolate fudge (he lives in Tennesseee - I live in Ohio). Although he did tell me I needed to add pecans to the chocolate fudge! I made the chocolate fudge - it was too dry. Then I made the peanut butter fudge... it was too soft. So I made another batch of each. I knew my dad would like the chocolate fudge - it was dry but melted in your mouth so he still got that. The second batch I did not add pecans because those were for here and I knew some of the kids and grandkids wouldn't like the nuts in them. Again too soft but at least hardened enough to be able to eat as candy instead of frosting for a cake!

I did have a nice Christmas. Had some nice gifts made for me that mean the world to me and are my treasures. So I'm sharing those with you!

My friend, Gail, made this. She's always telling my friend Sharon and I that she's just not good at crafting or sewing or cross stitch! I think this is just adorable! We'll make a crafter out of her yet! LOL!

My friend, Sharon of Serendipity
In Quilting & Other Stuff! , made this cute little mug rug! I just love it! But as I look at it I am envious of her stitching. I know that I need work at my skills. I want to make things that turn out this good!

...this is it opened! I love it!

My daughter, Ginger, put my gifts in this bag. So what's the big deal you ask?

Well, if you push on the red circle it has twinkling lights. I loved the gifts in the bag but I really, really like the bag! It's hanging in my craft room and when I need something to make me smile I just push the button. My granddaughter, Karley, said she picked the bag out. It's silly maybe but like I said - they got me bottles of wonderfully scented foam soap for my bathroom and kitchen but the bag sent it over the top!

So with all that said - I'm glad the holidays are over. I'm not liking the bitter cold we're having here in Ohio right now but in a way I'm glad. Hopefully in the next day or so I'll finish putting my craft room back together and get the boys quilt tops sewn. My plan (and notice I didn't say resolution) this year is to slow down when I'm being creative, take the time to do it right so that I'm making things I can be proud of. It's time for my annual - "Projects to finish or to make" list so that I can cross them off as I complete them.

In addition to my list - my friend, Sharon, and I are going to start work on a "Loyal Union Sampler" quilt for Elm Creek Quilts by Jennifer Chiaverini. We know it's not going to get finished in a year. We're not making it as the big quilt. I'm making mine to fit a space I have in my living room. So we'll do a block here, a block there and maybe by the end of the year all the blocks we have chosen will be completed. Then next year they'll get sewn together. Or maybe we won't get all our block sewn in one year. The point is we're taking our time and enjoying the process.

I've also started doing a lot of punch needle and want to get a couple of those finished. I also hope to finish my Jane Harris sampler this year! Hopefully by June! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I can dream can't I!

I wish you all a Happy New Year full of crafting, relaxing, and taking time to smell the roses!

for my granddaughter who is due December 8. We had her baby shower the first of November so I had to get it done. Then I gave it to her at the baby shower. But I took it away from her to take to my quilt guild (Lorain County Piecemakers) meeting and to take to a lunch we were having with friends. I gave it back to her last week.

Well, it's a good thing I did because yesterday she did this:

Mariah Marie was born December 6 at 1:33 p.m. after 13 hours of labor on my granddaughter's part (this was her first one). The last picture is of me and Mariah. My daughter and I were Karley's coaches and helped her push at the end. So I was very tired in this picture but very happy! Mariah weighs 7 lbs. 1 oz and is 19 inches long. She is just precious and looks just like her mom did when she was born (I helped my daughter with Karley's birth as well).

So, life is swell. I've been busy making Christmas gifts including quilts for my grandsons! Yikes! So I had a little bit of a reprieve. But boy was I tired when I got home. I hadn't had more than 2 hours of sleep since I got up Friday morning at 5:00 a.m.!!! So when I got home after being at the hospital most of the night Friday/Saturday and all day Saturday I put my jammies on, ate some dinner and went to bed at 6:30 p.m. and slept straight through until this morning (Sunday) at 8:30 a.m.!!!! Then today I went to my grandson's 6th birthday party so I am one tired camper. Back to crafting tomorrow!

And here is a picture of my Christmas cactus - it bloomed right after Halloween! But this is the most blooms I've had on it since I first bought it!

I have been one busy bee! Since my last post we went to Tennessee to visit family. Then came home and started working in the yard until hubby's back went out. Then road trips with my friends. Found a wonderful new quilt shop in Sandusky Ohio called Mabel and Ethel's. They sell a lot of civil war fabric and some wool! Yay!

I've also been working on my Jane Harris sampler. Then when other projects come up that gets put to the side. So tiny progress being made until after Christmas. The Halloween cross stitch on my blog is one that I finished in a weekend. I framed it and gave it to my daughter.

I've been working on a baby quilt for my granddaughter and it needs to be completed by this Sunday for her baby shower. I am almost done. It turned out bigger than I anticipated so I've been hand quilting a little each day. Now I'm quilting the sashing and the border and it will be done! Whew! But my hands are not liking me! It done and baby shower over because I need to start my Christmas gifts. Gulp! But at least I have everything I need for what I'm going to make. Thank goodness I'm retired or I'd be in big trouble.

Speaking of Christmas gifts... In July I cut fabric for what I had planned the Christmas gifts to be, then had to finish some quilts for our guild's quilt show in October. So the original Christmas gifts got put to the side. So, they will now be for next year.

Here are some of the quilts that I entered in the show:

Our guild doesn't award ribbons which I am thankful for. I need to sharpen my skills on hand quilting. There were some really nice quilts and, of course, I didn't take my camera.
So, I've been retired for a year and two months now. The first year was the hardest. Too many things came up that I wasn't aware would happen once retired - such as my "retired" prescription plan sucked! I pay more for my prescriptions now - especially at the beginning of the year when there are all those deductibles. Sigh... Then my hubby qualified for Medicare so that was fun trying to figure all of that out and which supplemental plan to purchase and which rx plan to use and so on. And now here we are back to that time of year of open enrollment. Also, I didn't plan for my sister to die and that was totally unexpected (she is younger than me but has had several strokes and a 5 by-pass heart surgery). Then after we got home from the memorial my brother ended up having a 5 by-pass heart surgery - he is also younger than me. After he got home from the hospital by dad ended up having a slight heart attack! Too much at one time. I started feeling like maybe I should go back to work...but I quickly talked myself out of it! LOL! Then the holidays came and went and for some reason - even though I had more time to prepare - I was not as prepared as I usually am for the holidays.
I have come to the conclusion that I need a routine. I'm too out of sorts, off track, out of sync - whatever way you want to describe it. I didn't routinely clean my house each week, I didn't routinely pull weeds in my gardens - I was just kind of out of it. So my plan this year is to get back on track, come up with a plan to clean my house room by room and then keep up with it. My craft will always be a work in progress - I clean it, then I start a new project and then it's a mess again so I clean it again and - you get the picture. I'm sure you all have that problem. Ok, maybe not all but a good majority of you do.

I have always been wanting to get back to rug hooking. I had sincerely thought that maybe it just wasn't for me. And then what would I do with all that I make? Then I realized that the reason I've been dragging my feet rug hooking is that the patterns I picked out were not really what I was aiming for. I realized this when I went to my friend's son's graduation party and saw how she had incorporated her rugs, mats, etc into her decor and that's when I knew I had been picking the wrong patterns. So I will attempt to finish those that I've started, get help with the binding, and then move on to the things I want to decorate my home with.

Well, enough about me... what's up with you!?!

Thanks for stopping by!
