About Me

My photo
I'm a wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother. I try to be creative - sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. I'm my own worst critic! I'm self taught in a lot of my crafts, but have taken quilting classes and most recently a beginner's rug hooking class. I enjoy both crafts tremendously. I'd like to learn to be a better gardener.

September 11

Today is a day that I will never forget.  I remember what I was doing at the moment one of my co-workers said that one of the World Trade Centers had been hit by a plane.  We all thought it had something to do with the traffic control tower at the nearby airport.  Then we found out the second one had been hit.  We knew then that something was terribly wrong.  I live in Ohio but we were all scared.  People started crying, some left and went home.  Myself, a friend and another co-worker were out on the top of the parking deck talking about how quiet it was (all air traffic had come to a screeching halt) when I head a jet fly nearby.  I told them "I hear a jet".  One thought I was just scared.  The other thought she had heard something too.  Turns out it was the plane that had turned around to head back towards Washington and crashed in PA.  The day was a beautiful day just like today.  Sun shining, skys so blue.  So many lives have been changed from that one event.  People that were in New York that day - first responders, firemen, policemen are coming down with cancers, loved ones proudly went to war only to never come home or if they did come home they're hurt/disabled.  Hug your loved ones today.  Take a moment to be thankful for what you have no matter how little it is.  Let today be the day that you "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff".

Peace be with you.

Happy September!

Well, here I am again after a while of not posting!  It's been a busy, hectic time for me just as it seems it's been for so many of you.

I attended the Sauder Village Rug Hooking event in August with my friend, Stacy.  We took the Finishing class with Alice Frazier.  I need to add a finish to the darling little pumpkin mat she so generously hooked for us all and then I'll post it.  Meanwhile, here are some of my favorite rugs from the show.

I liked this one because I do love a lot of nautical things.

I liked this one because of the flags and the "tongues"

I just liked this one just because.

I'd love to do something like this some day.

This reminds me a lot of the rug my friend designed and hooked.  I like it's simplicity.

This rug was HUGE!  I can't even fathom the patience it took to hook something this big.  It was beautiful!

Another one I can't imagine the patience for!  The detail was so perfect!  And I love birds so...

Below are some rugs that my friend Stacy liked a lot besides the ones I've shown above:

Labor Day weekend my hubby and I went down to Dayton Ohio for the Annual Giant scale radio control airplane show.  It was so hot and humid that we only stayed about an hour for the show.  Then we went to the Air Force museum which is free admission.  Below are some pictures I took.  I actually took a lot more but due to the darkness of the museum most of them didn't turn out well.

This is like an airplane that my hubby got to fly in in Viet Nam.  He said when they finally landed he got out and kissed the ground.  The pilot had a little fun with him!  LOL!

This is like the sign my husband saw when he left Viet Nam.

And I'm not really sure why I took this picture!  LOL!

So, I've been busily working on Christmas gifts and am quite please with how they're turning out.  For obvious reasons I'll have to wait to post pics of those!

I'll try to get better about posting but you know how that goes!

I'm ready for a little cooler weather!  This humidity is draining me and making my hair a complete and total mess!  LOL!
