About Me

My photo
I'm a wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother. I try to be creative - sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. I'm my own worst critic! I'm self taught in a lot of my crafts, but have taken quilting classes and most recently a beginner's rug hooking class. I enjoy both crafts tremendously. I'd like to learn to be a better gardener.

I have finally finished the two quilts and put them in the mail for my granddaughters!  I'm going to try to post the pictures now.

This is the front if Toni Marie's quilt.  She loves yellow!  The pattern is called "Turning Twenty" by Tricia Cribbs.  The finished size is approximately 70 x 86.  It was hand quilted with "x's" and "o's".

The back of Toni's quilt is yellow also with tiny flowers.  Toni will be 14 on her birthday this week.

This is the front of Felicia's quilt.  It is also a "Turning Twenty".  Hers was hand quilted with "x's".  She turns 16 today!  (2/21).  She loves purples.

This is the back of Felicia's quilt.

So far I have completed 5 quilts for 5 of my 10 grandchildren.  As well as a queen size log cabin for my bed, a quilt for my son, and a quilt top for another granddaughter.

This is my next quilting project.  It's a pattern by Eleanor Burns and will replace the wallhanging of cardinals that I currently have in my kitchen.

Now I get to concentrate on rug hooking!  Yay!  I've been a member of the 10 Minute Rug Hooking group and have yet to spend two minutes hooking but that all changed today!  And tonight I'll be working on the rug again at our rug hooking/crafting group!  And (and I'm so excited about this!) I "met" two people on RHD who live close by and they will be attending tonight so our group is growing!  And soon I'll be posting pics of my rugs!  Yay!

  1. Char, you have been really prudoctive this winter. Congratulations on having finished your two rugs and for having a growing network of Hooking Friends to join you in this fun hobby. All the best to you.

Looking forward to seeing some rugs soon. zJB

  2. Oops Char, I meant two quilts. I'm tired and need a nap. lol... JB

  3. Thanks Julia! I was beginning to feel like I was quilting in my sleep! LOL! I have decided that one of my goals this year is to work on some type of craft each day - even if it's only for 10 Minutes! So many of my friends (you included) seem to get so much more accomplished with their hobbies than I do. So that's what I'm trying to do but still make it enjoyable and relaxing.

We didn't get to get together last night - we had a small blizzard. It was snowing and blowing and drifting. Visibility was a mile or less. There's always next week!

No problem - I knew you meant quilts and not rugs! Did you get your nap?! :)

  4. Hi Char ~
Thanks so much for discovering my blog and sending the link to yours. Your quilts are lovely. What lucky grandchildren.
Hopefully the stars will align on Monday and we can get together!
    Pug hugs :)

  5. It's a small world, isn't it. It's nice that you and Lauren have met and now she has become your follower. JB
